The Workers Museum in Newtown, Johannesburg, is the only one of its kind in the country. A former compound for municipal workers from 1910s and continued under apartheid until the 1970s. The Workers Museum was refurbished in 2006, and focuses on the role and position of migrant labour in Johannesburg.
At this JBF, and in the context of Covid 19 an online virtual tour of the Museum will be made available to a wider audience in the South Africa, and beyond.
This year a Photo Exhibition will commemorate the life of Petrus Mashishi, Worker Leader.
Join Khanya College at the Jozi Book Fair for the launch of the Workers’ Museum Online Tourn and brochure; and the Photo Exhibition of Petrus Mashishi, Worker Leader.
