Khanya College hosted a poetry competition among Schools which are around Johannesburg. Each school must have three winners that are going to represent their school at the Jozi Book Fair Festival. On the 18th July 2019 Khanya College hosted a poetry competition at Asteri primary school where children were contesting among each other and only three learners had a chance to win the spelling bee competition. The Poetry Competition was hosted at Asteri Primary Schools where twenty learners participated in the competition. Ms Maremene was the organiser of the competition. The learners who got the first position was Sabelo Gama, second position was Gracia Ndeshi and third position was Caleb Nkadi.

Poetry Competition continued at Africa House College which was the second school to host the competition. Mr Sibanda was responsible for organising the poetry competition together with the Jozi Book Fair team. Sixteen learner participated in the poetry competition and the learner who won the first position was Priscilia Bhebhe, for second position was Sinalo Matanzima and for the third position was Nkosikhona Sbane.

On the 26 th July 2019 Poetry Competition continued with the third school which is Centurion College and the organiser of the competiton is Mr Ncube, nine learners participated in the competition. First position was Lethabo, Second position was Prudence and Third position was Mhlansi.

The fourth School that participated in the poetry competition was Buhlebuzile high school, ten learners participated in the competition, Mr. Dabula was responsible for the learners took the competition. First position was taken by Desire Khoza, second position was Buhle Baliso and third position is Natlantla. All the winners from the schools will compete with each other in the Jozi Book Fair Festival.
