On the 17 August 2019, Forum of Activist Journalist Network (FAJN) had a progressive meeting in forming a relationship and working together with the existing Forum of Activist Journalist (FAJ). The FAJN, which is Gauteng based only, was formed during Khanya’s College 2019 Winter School. The members of the network will be helping their organisations with writing and producing their own newsletters and newspapers. On Saturday, the organisations that attended were the African Reclaimers Organisation (ARO), Simunye Workers Forum (SWF) and Casual Workers Advice Office (CWAO), meeting alongside activists working for the Karibu newspaper.
These organisations are excited for journey that lies ahead and joining the network because it will improve their reading and writing skills. The FAJN is looking forward to attend the Jozi Book Fair – JBF this year and have experience on attending different sessions and write articles about what is happening at the fair. They are looking forward to write for JBF newsletter My Class and see their work read by many organisations. This is the opportunity for organisations that do not have newsletter or newspaper to start their own with the skills received at Khanya College.
